Koonce and Henderson family letters, 1860 September 11-1864 April 6.

The collection consists of five letters home by the three Koonce brothers and their two Henderson cousins right before the start of and during the Civil War. The Koonces and the Hendersons served in the Confederate Army and were stationed in Texas and Louisiana. The letters cover the period 11 September 1860 to 6 April 1864. The letters discuss election of officers, shortage of food and foraging, sickness in camp and billets with a local farmer, satisfaction with medical care, transfers and expectation of courier duty.
